The IUC programme arranged a meeting between the Chief Minister of Melaka State Hon. Datuk Idris Haron, the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (EC JRC) and the Secretariat of the Global Covenant of Mayors (GCoM). During the meeting, adhesion of Melaka State and Melaka City to the Global Covenant of Mayors was discussed. It was agreed to run a joint training on energy and climate action for local authorities in Melaka in the coming months. Melaka State would co-host the event and play a leading role in involving cities from the whole country.
